Design Draughtsman

We have a rare opportunity for an experienced Design Draughtsman to join our Facilities team based at our Whirinaki mill site in sunny Hawkes Bay.

About the opportunity

The Design Draughtsman role is part of a team that delivers draughting services across the Pan Pac site, with much of the work coming from our Pulp mill. This position is responsible for the development of mechanical designs from concept, through to detailed and complex manufacturing drawings, as well as updating existing drawings. You'll be involved in a variety of mechanical and structural projects such as the design of walkways, pumps and conveyors just to name a few.

About the person

Given the focus is on heavy engineering projects, you'll preferably have 10 years' experience in manufacturing or in a heavy industrial environment. It is important that you have good working knowledge of document control and management systems as the role will require you to ensure all drawing document registers and site overview drawings are kept current. Therefore, your attention to detail will be second to none!

This is a key site role, so your ability to engage and communicate complex concepts in a simple way to your key stakeholders is important.

To be successful in this role you will;

  • Hold a relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification
  • Have at least 5 years experience using Autodesk products, specifically Inventor and AutoCAD 2D/3D Mechanical.
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (email, Word and Excel)
  • Have detailed knowledge of manufacturing drawings.
  • Have sound judgement with a practical and logical approach to problem solving
  • Be a team player capable of work in both team and projects
