About the role

As a Saw Doctor, you'll support safe and efficient Sawmill operations by sharpening, repairing, and finishing saws and knives to a high standard. Working in the Saw Shop, you'll maintain equipment, apply a strong safety and quality focused approach, and collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure saws meet specification, perform reliably, and minimise unplanned downtime.

In this role, you will:

• Sharpen and repair saws and knives to best-practice standards
• Support saw reliability and availability across the sawmill.
• Contribute to preventative maintenance and safe Saw Shop operations
• Maintain quality checks, records, and housekeeping standards
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to resolve cutting performance issues

We have one position available at our Milburn site. This position is a permanent full-time position, minimum 40 hours per week. You will work 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. There is no weekend work required. Offered salary is a minimum base salary of $80,000 and a maximum of $87,000.

About us

Our Otago site is a modern sawmilling facility based in Milburn (approximately 40min south of Dunedin and 20min north of Balclutha) producing kiln dried appearance grade lumber for domestic and export markets.

About you

To be successful in this role you have:

• Level 4 Trade Certificate in Saw Doctoring
• Previous experience in saw doctoring in sawmill and/or service shop
